PMS and International Motorcycle Show

It looks like Wednesday, January 15th, around 7 PM will be the 6th annual Wednesday Night Riders PMS annual meeting.  If you have participated in some of our rides and behaved yourself this year, you will receive an invitation in the mail!

With the weather permitting, I am planning to drive up to the International Motorcycle Show in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 18th. and come back that same day.  If you want to ride along, I'll have room for 3 or possibly 4.  First come, first serve--(563-568-7277)

Here's a couple of shots from PMS meeting last year.

HE'S ON HIS WAY

He knows who's been naughty and nice, so I hope everyone has been nice.  As he whizzed by I heard him say, "Merry Christmas to all....and to all a good ride!"  Happy holidays to everyone in WNR!

More Winter Drivel

With an ice storm covering most of the area today, and Saturday being only the first day of winter, I thought a little humor might help cheer us up.  I think this is the guy that taught "Chuckles" how to ride.  At any rate, I hope he doesn't find Casey's on a summer night.  Click on the link below.  He's the guy in the upper center with the white shirt.

WINTER DRIVEL

With the weather witch digging her nails in pretty good, I thought some of you might enjoy one of the many communications I get from some of my Gold Wing buddies on line.  This one is about a Harley rider who may have to sell his bike or wife!  If you click on the link below, you should get the rest of the story.

WHY WE RIDE ADDENDUM

Got this from one of my Gold Wing buddies in Arkansas after he saw the post on "Why We Ride".  Apparently this was taken shortly after I posted the video.  He says he's still riding in warm temperatures of 70 degrees (the lucky devil)!

SUNSET ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

With daylight savings time coming this weekend, the sun has set on our Wednesday night rides.  It's really been a fun time and we had a lot of new faces show up at times, and kept Gus & Tony's busy with the prime rib sandwiches.  I do plan to keep this blog going through the winter, so stay tuned.  I am still planning to have our PMS gathering in January, so stay tuned for that also.  Bob R was the only one to ride on the last Wednesday of the year, so here's a couple of photos.

NO RIDE AND WHY WE RIDE

With the "weather witch" digging in with her claws on Wednesday, no one rode.  Thirty-six degrees and snow flurries usually doesn't favor bikers.  Maybe next Wednesday!

There is a documentary coming out on television called "Why We Ride".  A friend of mine sent me this link to the trailer for the film, and I have put the link to it below.  Hopefully it works on your computer.  I can't wait to see the actual documentary when it comes out.  I'll try to keep you posted.  Here's the link.

TWO HOT-BLOODED WOMEN AND A DUCK!!

This Wednesday, while most of you were thinking about putting your bikes away, three of us ventured out on a 50 mile ride to Decorah, Frankville, Bugsyville, and back to Waukon.  Lois, Jennifer, and Bob R were tough enough to handle the cool weather with thoughts in mind that "this might be the last Wednesday night".  On the way to Decorah along the Stage Road while looking for deer, we saw something in the middle of the road up ahead.  As we got closer we saw that it was a duck!  He was waddling right down the center line as if he owned it.  Fortunately we were able to get around him and no wolves came up out of the ditch to grab him.  Also, the hot chocolates at Gus & Tony's hit the spot.  Now we also know why Chuckles has to keep his thermostat at home set on low!!

CHICKEN, APPLES, DONUTS, and a FLASHER!!

Fourteen of us on ten bikes made the "Chicken Run" to Rockton on Sunday.  While it started out cool, the weather warmed and Meryle & Mary, Chuckles & Lois, Tom & Nancy, Wayne & Sandy, Jim & Marcia, Bob & Julie, Gary, and Wayne M enjoyed a beautiful
196 mile ride to Rockton, back through the orchards at Gays Mills, and back to Waukon.  We were entertained by a "flasher" at Casey's, had a good leaf ride through Wisconsin, ate delicious chicken, and stopped for apples and donuts.  Jim calculated the number of calories in one donut, but for fear for his life, he's not telling anyone!  A bit of chicken information from the cook--Today he cooked 400 half chickens.  The record is 1,060 halves.  That's 530 USDA cluckers!!

Here's some photos of the 10th annual "Chicken Run".

Wednesday Night and The Chicken Run

Lois Votsmier's mother passed away Sunday.  The Blocker's and Rotach's are going to attend her wake in Dyersville on Wednesday evening.  Therefore I won't be riding with you on Wednesday night.  I'm sure you'll have a good time without me, so be safe and eat well.  Let's all keep Lois and her family in our prayers.

As of now it looks like the Chicken Run on Sunday is a "go".  So if you want me to reserve your chicken dinners, let me know by Friday as to how many.  You can also call the Rockton Bar yourself if you want.

NO GOVERNMENT, BUT GOOD RIDE!! CHICKEN RUN POSTPONED

While our elected idiots were busy arguing and shutting down the government, the Wednesday Night Riders had a good ride and a good time anyway.  Dennis & Marlene, Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Carl, Howard, Bob Z, David (part of the time), Lois, and Bob R enjoyed a nice night ride out to the Lycurgus road, down Pool Hill road near New Albin, to Eitzen and HWY 76, and down CR 17 near Spring Grove, back to 76 and A26, and then HWY 9 back to Gus & Tony's for a trip of about 80 miles. We were then joined by Joyce for supper  and then sang "Happy Birthday" to Wayne!  A good time was had by all!

With the predicted temperatures on Sunday to reach only the low 50's, we decided to postpone the Chicken Run until the next Sunday, the 13th.  Same plans to leave Casey's at 10 and stop at the orchards on the way back.  Why don't we plan to take our elected officials along with us, drop them off at Rockton, and hope they can't find their way back!!  Let Bob R know next Wednesday if you are going and want to reserve a chicken dinner.

Here's the Wednesday night group at Casey's.

GOOD WNR GROUP TO CAMP COURAGEOUS

We had 10 riders and 1 guest on 6 bikes and a Mustang for our semi-annual trip to Camp Courageous in Monticello.  On a beautiful Sunday Tom, Nancy, Carl & Joyce, Dennis, Marlene, & Rose Henkels (guest), Gary, Jim G, and Bob & Julie ventured through Luana, Monona, Farmersburg, Elkader, Garber, Colesburg, Petersberg, Dyersville, and Monticello on the way down.  On the way back we hit Cascade, Epworth, Bankston, Rickardsville, Durango, Sageville, Sherill, Balltown, N. Buenavista, Millville, Guttenberg, McGregor, Monona, and back to Waukon for a round trip of 240 miles.  Great trip. great food, great weather, GREAT CAUSE!

Next Sunday, the 6th is the Chicken Run to Rockton.  We will leave from Casey's at 10 AM again and after Rockton we will stop at one of the orchards in Gays Mills.  It sounds like it's supposed to be chilly, so we may be taking a combination of bikes and cars.  Let Bob know by Wednesday night if you plan to go and want to reserve a chicken dinner.

Here's some photos from Sunday.

ANOTHER NICE WEDNESDAY--CAMP COURAGEOUS IS SUNDAY

Last Wednesday, the 25th, turned out to be another beautiful evening with 10 bikes and 13 riders.  We took the Old Stage Road to Decorah, and then on to Spillville, Ridgeway, back through Decorah on the Madison Road, and back to Gus & Tony's to load up on prime rib sandwiches.  Bob & Kristi, Lars, Wayne M. Bob Z, Howard, Lois, Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Carl, and Bob R all enjoyed ride.  We have two rides coming up on the next two Sundays.  Both leaving Casey's at 10 AM.  This Sunday is the Camp Courageous trip and next Sunday is the "Chicken Run" to Rockton.  If you plan on going on the Chicken Run, let Bob know if you want to reserve a chicken dinner, or you can call the Rockton Bar yourself and reserve your dinner.

Here's a few photos from Wednesday night's ride.

COUPLES' TRIP--COOL START, GREAT TIME!!

Twelve of us on 7 bikes and a convertible departed Casey's Saturday with a temperature of 48 degrees, but the sun soon warmed us and we had a great ride and a great time in Chetek.  The Votsmiers, Kaesers, Haberichters, Blockers, Fishs, and Rotachs put on about 200 miles each way along some nice back roads and highways through central Wisconsin to the Inn at Chetek and a tour of Lake Chetek and the Blocker condo and saw Chuckles swim the lake.  We also stopped at Lark Toys in Kellog for a neat visit.  Here's some photos of our gang.
