Lincoln Highway and National Parks

My (our) journey was nearly 3,200 miles.  I started out from Anamosa and rode HWY 30 (Lincoln Highway) as far west as Sydney, NE, making a lot of stops for photos along the way since it was the 100th birthday of the first coast to coast route in the US.  From Sydney I cut south to Denver for some babysitting, and then Julie joined me for a trip further west to see Arches, Canyon Lands, and Colorado National Monument.  We then returned to Denver, and then I retraced some of HWY 30 back to Missouri Valley, IA.  From there I headed north on the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway and connected with highway 20 near Holstein.  Here's some more photos of the journey. (I think you can enlarge them by clicking on them.)  I also am anxious to hear about our other travelers (the Hahn's, the Fish's, and Meryle and Mary).  Hope to see you Wednesday night, and don't forget about the I-RIDE this Saturday!

Along the Lincoln Highway

On my way to Denver, I took hwy 30, the Lincoln Highway.  It's the 100th anniversary of this route, which is the oldest paved coast to coast highway in the US.  Along the way, at least in Nebraska, most of the towns have some special events or special places celebrating the "old girl's" birthday.  Here's some photos I took along the way.  Hopefully you will be able to view these and others of the highway and the Arches National Park (if we ever get there).
