WEDNESDAY NIGHT STREET INSPECTORS

On Wednesday night our group consisting of 12 bikes and 14 riders ventured about 80 miles through Lycurgus, New Albin, and Eitzen to Spring Grove to inspect the progress on their new Main Street paving project.  Bob H, Carl, Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Tom, Linda, Beth, Lois, Chuckles, David, Gary, and Bob R all thought it passed our inspection and wished some of it was happening to our streets in Waukon!  We returned back through Dorchester after negotiating the detours in Spring Grove.  Nice ride!
Don't forget to let Bob R know if you are planning to go on the couples trip Sept. 21-22 to Chetek.  Here's some photos from Wednesday night.

A NEWBIE AND SOME RAIN

This Wednesday we had a newbie (Linda) join us for a ride through Postville, Gunder, Elkader, Elkport, Garber, and Guttenberg, where we stopped at Greaser's Drive In for ice cream.  We then continued through Garnavillo, Monona, and Rossville, where some of us stopped to eat and wait out the storm.  It was a nice ride (about 120 miles) and we got a little wet from a much needed rain.  Linda seemed to be able to handle her new ride very well, so we hope to see her again.  Also, Bugsy came off the disabled list and was able to join us.  By the way, the fish sandwiches at Rossville are good enough to kill for!!  Here's some shots of the group at Greaser's.

HANSEN"S WAS A HIT!!

What a nice day!  What a nice ride!  Sunday turned out beautiful for our ride to Hansen's Holdup Bar above Arcadia.  We had 22 riders on 14 bikes.  Besides Gordy & Darlene, Meryle & Mary, Howard & Dorothy, Tom & Nancy, Carl & Joyce, Wayne & Sandy, Chuck & Lois, Gary, and Bob & Julie, we were joined by Chris & Jolene at Casey's and Clair, Doris, & Tim at Hansen's.  We left Casey's and ventured through Caledonia, Hokah, LaCrescent, Onalaska, Midway, New Amsterdam,  Centerville, Arcadia, Fountain City, Winona, Nodine, Brownsville, New Albin, and back to Waukon for a distance of about 210 miles.  Good weather, good scenery, good food, good company!  Here's some photos of the group.

Bear Creek Road & Hansen's

This Wednesday we had 9 units and 13 riders depart Casey's and head for Houston via the new (but technically closed) Bear Creek Road.  We had 4 Fish (Fish's), 2 Blockers, 2 Hahn or Honn's, Mary, Jim S, Gary, Lars, and Bob R travel about 125 miles through Burr Oak, Canton, Highland, Bratsberg, Rushford, Houston, Caledonia, Eitzen, and back to Gus & Tony's.  It was a cool, but nice evening ride.  DON'T FORGET SUNDAY'S RIDE TO HANSEN'S HOLDUP BAR IN ARCADIA.  WE WILL BE LEAVING FROM CASEY'S AT 10 AM.  Good scenery!  Good Food!

Here's some shots from Wednesday's stop in Rushford.

Near New Record!

This last Wednesday came close to tying our all time record attendance.  We had 13 bikes and 14 people.  Bob H and Jim W joined us for the first time this year, and along with Tom & Nancy, Wayne & Sandy, Howard, Carl, Meryle, David H, Lars, Chuck & Lois, and Bob R we rode into Wisconsin on a near-perfect evening.  We traveled though Churchtown, Lansing, Ferryville, Rising Sun, Towerville, Gays Mills, Petersburg, Seneca, PdC, Marquette, Monona, and back to Gus & Tony's covering about 125 miles.

We've got Wayne M, Bob Z, and Bugsy on the disabled list, but they did come to Casey's to see us off.  We hope they will be back riding with us soon.

We have a couple of upcoming rides.  On August 18th there is a ride planned to go to Norwegian Hollow Hideaway, but since we went there earlier this year, we're going to shoot for Hansen's Bar if they are still open.  We plan to leave from Casey's at 10 AM that day.  Also, its getting time to set up the couples' trip on September 21 & 22 to Chetek.  If you plan on going, let Bob R know ASAP, so we can book motel rooms.

Here's a few shots from Wednesday night.

BACK FROM CHATTANOOGA

After leaving Monday morning and getting back from Chattanooga on Saturday, the Fab 5 (Meryle, Chuck, David, Howard, and Bob R) had a great trip.  Little or no rain while on the road, good rooms, good highways, good attractions, good food, and good laughs.  Those of us who went will be getting a DVD of the trip, but I thought the rest of you might like to see a few photos.
