GOOD WNR GROUP TO CAMP COURAGEOUS

We had 10 riders and 1 guest on 6 bikes and a Mustang for our semi-annual trip to Camp Courageous in Monticello.  On a beautiful Sunday Tom, Nancy, Carl & Joyce, Dennis, Marlene, & Rose Henkels (guest), Gary, Jim G, and Bob & Julie ventured through Luana, Monona, Farmersburg, Elkader, Garber, Colesburg, Petersberg, Dyersville, and Monticello on the way down.  On the way back we hit Cascade, Epworth, Bankston, Rickardsville, Durango, Sageville, Sherill, Balltown, N. Buenavista, Millville, Guttenberg, McGregor, Monona, and back to Waukon for a round trip of 240 miles.  Great trip. great food, great weather, GREAT CAUSE!

Next Sunday, the 6th is the Chicken Run to Rockton.  We will leave from Casey's at 10 AM again and after Rockton we will stop at one of the orchards in Gays Mills.  It sounds like it's supposed to be chilly, so we may be taking a combination of bikes and cars.  Let Bob know by Wednesday night if you plan to go and want to reserve a chicken dinner.

Here's some photos from Sunday.

ANOTHER NICE WEDNESDAY--CAMP COURAGEOUS IS SUNDAY

Last Wednesday, the 25th, turned out to be another beautiful evening with 10 bikes and 13 riders.  We took the Old Stage Road to Decorah, and then on to Spillville, Ridgeway, back through Decorah on the Madison Road, and back to Gus & Tony's to load up on prime rib sandwiches.  Bob & Kristi, Lars, Wayne M. Bob Z, Howard, Lois, Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Carl, and Bob R all enjoyed ride.  We have two rides coming up on the next two Sundays.  Both leaving Casey's at 10 AM.  This Sunday is the Camp Courageous trip and next Sunday is the "Chicken Run" to Rockton.  If you plan on going on the Chicken Run, let Bob know if you want to reserve a chicken dinner, or you can call the Rockton Bar yourself and reserve your dinner.

Here's a few photos from Wednesday night's ride.

COUPLES' TRIP--COOL START, GREAT TIME!!

Twelve of us on 7 bikes and a convertible departed Casey's Saturday with a temperature of 48 degrees, but the sun soon warmed us and we had a great ride and a great time in Chetek.  The Votsmiers, Kaesers, Haberichters, Blockers, Fishs, and Rotachs put on about 200 miles each way along some nice back roads and highways through central Wisconsin to the Inn at Chetek and a tour of Lake Chetek and the Blocker condo and saw Chuckles swim the lake.  We also stopped at Lark Toys in Kellog for a neat visit.  Here's some photos of our gang.

FULL MOON, LARGE CREW!

Last Wednesday, the 18th, we had 18 riders on 13 bikes and one car.  Four Fish, Lars, Chuckles, Lois, Meryle & Mary, Jim G, Gary, Bob Z, Tom, Nancy, Carl, Julie, Bob & Janell (Julie's sister) all made the 80 mile trip through Lycurgus, Bear Creek road to Decorah, through Frankville, and back to Waukon on a beautiful full moon evening.  It was Janell's first ride and she said she really enjoyed the ride and especially the company.  (She never has been a real good judge of character!)

Upcoming rides include the couples' trip this weekend, Camp Courageous on the 29th, and the chicken run on Oct. 6th.  Unfortunately it will soon be winter, so let's get the riding in while we can!

Here's a few shots from Wednesday.

NEW LEADERS AND FISH WERE BITING

Jens and I caught well over 200 fish during the 4 days we spent in Boulder Junction even though the weather seemed to change every hour.  I'm glad to see the leaders on last Wednesday did well without me!  Chuckles wrote:  "We missed you and hope the fish were biting.  It was a beautiful Wednesday evening for 10 bikes and 14 riders.  Bob Z, Bob H, Carl, Lars, Wayne & Sandy, Dayton & Joan, Meryle & Mary, Jim & Marsha, Chuck, and Lois put on about 80 miles taking Forest Mills Rd to Luana, down to Gunder, over to Cleremont, back through Festina, and Ossian to Gus & Tony's.  Sandy made sure there were plenty of Prime Rib sandwiches to go around before we placed the orders!  Chuckles & Bob Z did a good job leading and missed all the coon & gravel.  Hope to ride together again soon!"

Thanks, guys, sorry I had to miss it.

I will need to know on Wednesday night whose going on the couples trip to Chetek on the 21st & 22nd.  Hopefully I will have an itinerary to pass out then.

Here's a photo of one of the nice fish we caught.  It was an 8 pound large mouth bass caught on Jute Lake.  Caught by Bob, landed & photoed by Jens.

Three Newbies on a route through Allamakee County

This last Wednesday we had 14 units and 17 riders on a 85 mile tour winding through Allamakee County.  Bob Z, Jim G, Howard, Tom & Nancy, Wayne & Sandy, Lois, Carl, Dennis & Marlene, Bugsy, Lars, and Bob R were joined by first-timers Mike & Sue and Jennifer.  Welcome to those three and hopefully they will join us again.  It was also good to see Bob Z back in the saddle and he even did not go round in circles!  We started at Casey's and traveled down the Lycurgus road and A-26 to near New Albin and then followed 26 to Lansing.  From there we took the Lansing/Harpers road to Lafayette Road and on into Harpers for a stop at the Quick Mart.  We then continued on through Yellow River Forest to hwy 9 and then through Waterville and back to Gus & Tony's on the Elon Road.  We were able to view a spectacular sunset on the way back!

Several of us plan to ride on Saturday in a ride sponsored by ww Dairy and HD with proceeds going to the hospital cancer unit.  Registration is from 10 to 11 at Waukon HD that morning.  100 miles through NE Iowa and ending at ww Dairy for ice cream and brats.

So far I have Haberichters, Votsmiers, Kaesers, Fish's, Blockers, and Rotachs on the couples' trip the 21st and 22nd to Chetek.  Let Bob know soon if you would like to go along that weekend.

Bob will be up north catching smallmouth bass next week, so you will need a new leader on Wednesday.

Here's some photos from Wednesday night's venture.
