NINE RIDERS TOUR HESPER

This Wednesday nine of us on seven bikes departed Casey's on a journey through Elon, Lansing, New Albin, Eitzen, Spring Grove, Mabel, Hesper, Locust, and back to Waukon via Bear Creek Drive.  We put on about 110 miles with about 7 of them touring the metropolis of Hesper (population 14)!  The saying now is,"All detours lead to Hesper."  It was a very enjoyable ride for the eight of us....Gary, Howard, David, Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Tom and Bob R.

Although it sounds like rain on Monday, right now the"Double Dip Ice Cream Trip" is still on with a departure time from Casey's at 1 PM.

Congrats to Tom & Nancy...A new grandson!!

Here's a couple of photos from Wednesday night.

COUPLES' TRIP IS BOOKED FULL--LABOR DAY RIDE

Due to limited motel space, the couples' trip is now full with 9 couples indicating that they want to go on Sept. 20-21.  As of now I have Blockers, Meryle & Mary, Kaesers, Haberichters, Riesbergs, Fishs, Votsmiers, Van Rulers, and Rotachs.  If you still think you may want to go, let me know.  I have informed the motel to let me know if any more rooms open up.  Also, if there is a current couple that can't go for some reason, that would open up  another spot.  Just to let everyone know, there is a 48 hour cancellation limit on the rooms, so if it looks like you're not going to go, let me know early enough to avoid me being charged for your room!

On Labor Day (Monday), I will be leaving Casey's at 1 PM for the Labor Day Double Dip Ice Cream Ride.  Anyone is welcome to ride along.  One dip on the trip, and one dip when we get back (at WW DAIRY).

11 TO DQ

Eleven of us on nine bikes headed out Wednesday night for the DQ in West Union.  We (Wayne & Sandy, Dayton & Joan, Chuckles & Lois, Bob Z, Howard, Gary, Bugsy, and Bob R) traveled through Ossian via CR W42 and on to the Dairy Queen in West Union.  While some of us limited our intake of ice cream, one member over dosed there and couldn't stop for supper later.  What happens on Wednesday night stays on Wednesday night!  We returned to Waukon via HWY 150, CR B40, W51, B64, B60, W64, HWY 52, 51, & 9 passing through Eldorado, Clermont, Elgin, Gunder, and Postville to Gus & Tony's.  Again it was a beautiful night, good roads, good scenery, and good company.

I now have the following couples indicating that they want to go on the couples' trip Sept. 20-21 to Middleton:  Rotachs, Blockers, Meryle & Mary, Haberichters, Fishs, Votsmiers, and VanRulers.  Let Bob R know ASAP if you plan on going so he can confirm motel rooms.

Prayers for Carl & Joyce's son who's having brain surgery in Nashville.

Here's a couple of shots from Wednesday night.

EIGHT ATE AT NHH

Eight of us traveled through some light fog and mist to Norwegian Hollow Hideaway on Sunday.  It was about 200 miles round trip (I didn't know it was that far away!).  We did make some stops on the way back at the  Richland Center DQ for desert.  I think everyone (Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, Tom, Wayne M, and Bob & Julie) enjoyed the trip, except the chicken wasn't the best.  I'll guess we'll have to make up for that when we make the "chicken run" to Rockton.  Actually I'm thinking about changing the Norwegian Hollow trip next year to the "All Roads Lead to Steuben Burger Run" on a Saturday afternoon.  Let me know what you think.  I'll have to smooth everything over with them first after Meryle stole all the rubbers out of the jar in the bathroom!

Meryle & Mary, Wayne & Sandy, and Bob R also rode in the "Sheriff" Ride in memory of Mark Kaeser on Saturday.  I'll try to find out about that earlier next year, so maybe more of us can participate.

I now have Wayne & Sandy, Tom & Nancy, Meryle & Mary, and Bob & Julie scheduled for the couples' trip on Sept. 20-21.  We will be going to Middleton, WI to see the Mustard Museum and possibly a brewery tour.  Let Bob R know soon if you plan on going along.

Here's some shots from Sunday's ride to Norwegian Hollow.

"LUCKY 13" TO GAYS MILLS--NORWEGIAN HOLLOW

In case you haven't realized it yet, in our area we are very lucky to be able to ride some of the best scenic motorcycle roads.  And Wednesday night was no exception.  Thirteen of us on 10 bikes left Casey's headed for Gay Mills.  Dayton & Joan, Bob Z, Carl, David, Chuck & Lois, Wayne & Sandy, Meryle & Mary, Earl, and Bob R enjoyed a comfortable night with beautiful scenery to boot.  We traversed through Elon, Lansing, Ferryville, and to Gays Mills via CR B & C.  We returned through Bell Center, Petersburg, to Seneca via CR S, then to Lynxville via CR E, and back through Ferryville and Lansing to Gus and Tony's.  The total mileage was 102.  It don't get any better than that!

I plan to leave from Casey's at 10 Sunday morning for a trip to Norwegian Hollow Hideaway for eats.  It's usually a good trip with good food.  Anyone is welcome to ride along.

So far I have only Wayne & Sandy signed up for the couples' trip.

Here's a couple of shots of Wednesday night's crew.

WE'RE BACK AND NORWEGIAN HOLLOW

The boys returned safely from their Lewis & Clark and Ozark expedition, so they rode along on the regular Wednesday night ride.  We had 11 bikes with 13 souls aboard heading for Wauzeka on a very comfortable night.  Bugsy, Wayne & Sandy, Howard, Jim & Marcia, David, Carl, Earl, Chuckles, Lois, Gary, and Bob R motored through Elon, Harpers, Marquette, PDC, Bridgeport, and on to Wauzeka for a break.  We returned through Eastman, Lynxville, Ferryville, Lansing, Churchtown, and back to Gus & Tony's for supper.  The views from CR N and F were spectacular!

On Sunday, the 17th, we have a planned ride to Norwegian Hollow Hideaway near Viroqua for eats.  We will leave from Casey's at 10 AM that day.

Also I will need to know shortly who plans to go on the Couples' Trip on the 20th and 21st of September.

Here's a couple of shots from Wednesday night.

LOIS LEADS........NO GRAVEL!!

Here's a report sent to me by Lois, who led the Wednesday night ride in my absence.

The dynamic duo/trio, Lois & Wayne & Sandy, had a relaxing 100 mile loop on a beautiful Wednesday evening through Hardin, Luana, Monona, Farmersburg, Clayton Center & Garnavillo to Guttenberg to indulge in Praline, Cookies 'n Cream & Licorice ice cream cones at Greasers.  Took a loop down through Guttenberg following the Mississippi back to the Great River Road passing through Marquette & McGregor back to Gus & Tony's to top off our dessert.  Lois is glad to have gotten that love of cycling from Chuckles, but glad not to have inherited the magnetism to gravel.  Nice smooth pavement all the way.  Wishing the same for the crew on the men's trip.
