BACK FROM HELL

Contrary to most opinions, the group of seven WNR guys did make it to Hell (and back!).  More about that in future posts.  But while they were gone, the Wednesday night rides continued apparently under the expert guidance of Lois.  Sounds like she even welcomed some "newbies" aboard.  Here's her report and some photos she took.

In the absence of the 7 that went to Hell, Lois & Roger on 2 wheelers, Darrell, Chuck (not Chuckles, he went to Hell.), Wayne & Sandy, Greg and newbies Gary & Karen and Sharon on three wheelers left Waukon on a sunny, quiet, 78 degree evening up Hwy 76 and across Bear Creek Drive to Locust..  Roger peeled off there and headed back home.  We took Locust then headed toward Spring Grove where we hopped on 4 and cruised through Yucatan.  Praise God the deer stayed off the road because they seem to like the hills, valleys and smooth blacktop as much as we do.  We stopped for a break in Houston then set our sights on 25 & 21 to work our way into Hokah, but 21 was closed.  There appeared to be plenty of water in the ditches, close to the road, so we headed back to 16 and on over to Hokah.

There Gary & Karen and Sharon decided to head back to Decorah and the rest of us took 18 to Brownsville then 26 down to Iowa River Drive.  We got to drive across the new bridge and then took Lycurgus Road back to 9.  There Greg headed for home and the remaining 5 of us stopped for a sandwich at City Club.  I guess, since Dave is the owner, he can close Gus & Tony's to have a well deserved vacation.

At City Club the conversation turned to antics on the school bus and the white cow right next to the road that only Sandy & Darrell saw.  Perfect riding evening; lush green everywhere; 70 degrees when we got back to town; 120 miles when I parked the bike.  Hopefully the other 7 will get to Hell and back for next Wednesday!
