This Wednesday proved to be a lot more civil than Monday as far as weather goes. Still some wind and temps in the low 70's as a dozen Wednesday night riders gathered at Casey's.
Chuckles, Dee, Lois, and Jim D along with grandson James and mascot Honey were on bikes while ChucK, Darrel, and Bob R mounted trikes. Our support vehicle was a brand new Jeep with David at the helm and Bob Z riding shotgun. Roger was there to see us off.

CHUCKLES & LOIS ARRIVE |
After departing Casey's, we circled the golf course and then took the Elon Road heading east. There looked to be some possible rain clouds to our south, but so far so good as we turned back south onto the Lansing/Harpers Road. We cruised down the hill into Harpers Ferry where we continued in a southernly direction onto the Great River Road. As we were scooting along the Mississippi River, we noted how high the water had risen and how many of some of the larger trees had white blossoms.
We arrived at HWY 76 and turned south again past Effigy Mounds and along the bluffs on our west side. It's always a relief to get into Marquette without having to dodge fallen rocks or tree limbs. We then followed aptly named River Street on into McGregor. Apparently Main Street in McGregor is going under some repair work, but we were able to avoid that and passed through town and proceeded up the hill on the Great River Road up to the Pikes Peak turn off. We were greeted by a "Road Closed" sign, but we were still able to drive into the park itself. The park is also being refurbished because the drinking fountains and restrooms were closed, but we were still able to make our way to the lookout platform.

We departed the park heading south via Great River Road then turned west on Clayton Road and motored on into Garnavillo for our "treats" stop. A few rain sprinkles fell on us there.

After consuming our treats, we continued north on HWY 52 to the intersection of HWY 128 where we went westward through Clayton Center and onto HWY 13 heading back north. At the junction of 13 and CR B65 we turned west again and passed through St. Olaf. Turning onto Fawn Hollow Road we headed north again through Farmersburg and past the old gas station exhibit there. We then took CR X 26 (Falcon Avenue) north to HWY 18. After a short jog on 18, we headed north again through Monona on the Volney Road and arrived in rosey Rossville and HWY 76.
We took 76 into Waukon where some of us took the "shortcut" to Green Valley Getaway. There we all met up for a meal with pizza being the favorite menu item.

HOSPICE RIDE
The Winneshiek Medical Hospice Ride is Sunday, June 12th. This is an event that our Wednesday night rider group has supported for a number of years now, so it would be great to see a good number of us participate. Our Nancy Haberichter is one of the organizers of this charitable event. The following gives some of the details.
