HE'S BACK & LOOKING GOOD!

To the delight of the Wednesday Night Riders who showed up last night, Richard was back after his kidney transplant.  Everyone was excited to see him, and his brother Bob came over from Wisconsin to see him off on his first ride back.

In attendance on bikes were Bobby, Bob P, Chuckles, Dee, Lois, Lissa, Bill, and Mike.  The three wheeler crowd consisted of Terry, ChucK, Irv, and Bob R.  Richard was accompanied in the Slingshot with daughter, Myrta.

MORE WELCOME BACKS FOR RICHARD

LOIS PAYS OFF A BET?!

After everyone had a chance to visit with Richard, Bob P, Bobby, and Myrta, we departed Casey's with the Clermont area in mind.  We cruised down HWY 9 west, and, of course, had to stop at the never-ending bridge repair just before we turned onto Centennial Road.  After making sure everyone was still with us, we proceeded south on Centennial to Sand Road and headed west into Ossian.

We passed through Ossian and continued on CR B32 toward Festina.  B 32 is another Winneshiek County roads in need of repair.  Once we reached Festina, we headed back south on HWY 150.  There are a couple of spots on 150 that offer some great overlooks.  After cruising smooth 150 for a ways, we turned back east onto CR B40, Great River Road.  This route is an enjoyable venture that offers some good scenery, is in good repair, and actually crosses the Turkey River 6 times.  GRR ends at HWY 18 just outside of Clermont, and we pull into the Casey's store there for our break.

PLENTY OF PARKING ROADSIDE

TIME FOR A BREAK FOR EVERYONE

With clear skies and comfortable temps, our leader decided it was too early to head back home, so we continued on HWY 18 into Elgin, and headed back south on CR W51 (Canoe Road).  While we were traversing the city of Elgin, we were joined by Jim & Cathy, which swelled our numbers to 16.  After motoring through Elgin, we picked up CR B64/W70 (Agate Road) and made our way up hill to the Gunder Road at the aptly named hamlet of Gunder .  There were some pretty views offered on Agate, but the Gunder Road is hard to beat for scenery.  We continued on Gunder, enjoying the views, until we reached the beautiful Norway Church and made our way back east on a short trip on 200th St. and into St. Olaf.

Once in St. Olaf, we took CR X28 (Fawn Hollow Road) back north into Farmersburg and eyed "Asshole's Garage".  After putting through Farmersburg, we took CR X28 (Golden Avenue) north to HWY 18.  Then on into Monona we went and continued on CR X26 (Falcon Avenue/Volney Road) up to HWY 76 at rosie Rossville.  HWY 76 north took us back into Waukon where a number of us ate at Uptown. Bob P departed back to Wisconsin and hopefully avoided the many deer in that area. There were exactly 100 miles on the Wing when I got her home.

GREAT WEATHER!  GREAT RIDE! AND ABOVE ALL, GREAT TO SEE RICHARD AGAIN!

NEXT WEDNESDAY LOOKS TO BE TOWARD VIROQUA.

WE HAVE HAD ONE COUPLE CANCEL GOING ON THE COUPLES' TRIP ON SEPTEMBER 14 & 15.  BEFORE I CANCEL THEIR ROOM RESERVATION, IS THERE ANOTHER COUPLE WHO WOULD NOW LIKE TO GO ALONG?  IF SO, LET BOB KNOW BY NEXT MONDAY.

WHO NEEDS A GAS GAUGE?!
