WEDNESDAY NIGHT WET BUTTS!
After checking the radar on the computer at home it indicated that the rain would not be in our area until later Wednesday night. Apparently the Weather Channel had cars on their radar, because the rain just waited for us to start riding. Showing up to get soaked we had Dayton & Joan, Howard, Larry, David, and Dale in the support vehicle. (Too bad Dale didn't have a bus instead of a convertible!)
We checked the radar on Larry's phone just before we left, and it looked like if we headed east and then circled back we might miss the rain. Wrong move! By the time we headed out on the Elon Road and got to the Waterville turn, it was apparent that the storm was closing in on us, and there was no way to go but back to town. Of course on the way back, the heavens cut loose with the "much needed" rain and we all (except Dale) got soaked. As the old saying goes, "the bike needed washing anyway". So all was not lost because I was really afraid of the wind kicking up and making it real dangerous to be traveling on a bike, but we all made it back safely (wet and cold) but not injured. Let's hope the "much needed" rain has all fallen by next Wednesday.
