CHUCKLES LEADS

While Bob and Dennis were up hammering the smallmouth bass in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, Chuckles was apparently next in command.  So he led the ride on Wednesday night.  Here's the report and some photos he sent.

The lucky 13 hit the road Wednesday evening under beautiful sunny skies while we hope Bob & Dennis were lucky fishing in Boulder Junction. Darron, Chuckles and Jim & Cathy were on bikes, Ron & Helen, Dave & his wife (friends of Ron & Helen's), Meryle & Mary and Chuck (not Chuckles) on trikes with Dale & Greg in the support convertible.

We headed south out of town to Forest Mills, past the Gelo ranch and took Cherry Valley into Postville. We stayed on 52 through Castalia, Ossian and Calmar towards Decorah. We hopped on B16 to Spillville and over to Protivin, then took V58 north to Cresco where we stopped at Kwik Star for a break.

From Cresco we took A34 (the old highway) to Decorah. Our Decorah friends parted ways there and we went north on 52 to W34, by Nob Hill, taking A26 until we reached Bear Creek Rd (seeing at least a dozen bambis). We took 76 back to Waukon where Chuckles & Gelos (can't have too many Gelos) stopped at City Club for a bite to eat. Logged 118 miles when parking for the night.

P.S. No gravel, Bob.

Fishing Report--Dennis and Bob boated close to 150 fish in 3 1/2 days.  Both are recovering from carpal tunnel of wrists and shoulders!

Some tough luck for Clair
I know most of you know Clair Riesberg from Dyersville.  He has ridden with us on several Wednesday nights and goes with us on the guys trip.  Chuckles claims him as a cousin, but Clair vehemently denies it!  Anyway Chuckles sent this by e-mail.

My buddy Clair had a bad day, he is OK. He stoped behind a semi side dump.Clair was going to make a right turn and the truck backed up to give another semi room and did not see Clair. Clair is lucky he did not get run over.

We're all glad you're unharmed, Clair, and the Gold Wing is a tough machine, so it will be up and going again soon.

Right now it doesn't look too good for our RTE this afternoon.  The original plan was to go to Norwegian Hollow Hideaway, but with the bridge closed at Lansing, it might be best to try someplace different.  We'll see what the weather witch has in store for us at 4 PM, but right now it looks to be "chancy".  Apparently she's decided that after she tried to blow us down with wind it's time to pee on us for a few days.

Next Sunday is the Bucknuckles Bar run.  Hopefully the witch will cooperate then.  So far next Wednesday night looks good.

Thanks to Chuckles for leading last Wednesday's ride and being gravel free!
